This passed Saturday, I took and passed the first part the California State Board exam. I DID NOT attend any prep courses. I did oder and use the flash cards and biopsychocial workbooks from Gerry Grossman. I made flashcards from the questions in the test booklet. It was easier that I anticipated.

Hi All, just wanted to share a great resource with everyone. After using 3 major test prep companies' materials and failing 3 times, I finally got referred to Amanda Rowan. She is an amazing test prep coach. She understands these exams and gives you clear strategies and covers the essential content. The other companies drown you in stuff to memorize, Amanda let's you know what you have to know and how you have to know it. She also works with people who are on a budget. She really is an angel! Her number is 310-709-1670. Good luck!

My email address is sabshane@aol.com

Studying for the CA LCSW exams. I’m a recently widowed mom of 4, so looking for anyone who’d like to donate or sell their study material, especially from BTA. But I’ll take any program. It’s hard to pull together the significant fees for the study materials with my budget now. Thanks!

re: CA clinical vignette exam -

I took the Clinical Vignette exam on Monday, and I PASSED!!!!!! I used Berkeley Training to prepare for both tests. I don't know if this helps anyone but I wanted to share that, for me, taking the BTA workshops, using the study materials, and then using the online sample exams made all the difference. Working through each exam one question at a time, researching the answer, comparing my answer with BTA – and then trying to logic out why their answer was correct BEFORE reading the explanation really helped make the material “stick.” After working through all 8 exams, I then started over, taking the tests ”on the clock” – comparing the questions I missed with the results of the first pass. If I missed the same question I re-read the BTA material re: that topic. I also took their advice re: studying as if it was an essay exam.

hello, I have been using aatbs and bts. Colleagues who have passed the exams suggested to do practice test and learn from every answer; such as referring back to the workbooks. AAtbs is very very detailed...in a way they overkill it with info and BTS condenses the info. I like to have both because it gives a clearer picture. Have u taken your exam yet?
