I’m returning to studying–and blogging–after a month-plus hiatus. Time to get that vignette test prepped for and passed. I’ll post useful-seeming stuff as I encounter it. Requests and such welcomed: socialworkprep [at] gmail.com (or in Comments).
Meantime, enjoyed recently: the Savage Love Podcast. Sex and relationship advice from columnist-turned-podcaster, Dan Savage. Will we be tested on this? No. But imagine you’re prepping for the social work exam by identifying all the social work interventions and values he puts to work: normalizing, being where the client/caller is, challenging cognitive distortions, etc. Is good.

Great trick! i am constantly teaching my consulting clients tricks like this to help them reframe experiences in a light that helps them learn- and is fun too!
Have you checked out the videos available on YouTube.com about theories? They even have the old Gloria videos! Send me a note at miranda@mftguide.com and I would be happy to point you to a couple of good ones!
